I first became interested in film my last semester in high school when we watched Hitchcock’s Psycho in a film/creative writing hybrid class that I took mainly because I enjoyed creative writing. I was initially inspired by the way a shot’s framing could also convey meaning. I immediately started brainstorming ideas for films and wrote two short screenplays. I went on to attend the College of William and Mary in Williamsburg, VA where I studied English Literature and Film. After graduating I moved to Durham, NC and began working on a variety of local productions as either a crew member or as a script consultant. Continuing to write my own material, I produced my debut short film “The Bull” that fall. It went on to premiere at the Maryland Film Festival and is currently being internationally distributed by Ouat Media out of Toronto. While making "The Bull" I was also writing the screenplay for THE VIRGINS, my debut feature that I directed and produced the next summer. I handled all budgeting, location scouting, casting, paperwork (contracts and permits), scheduling, and other preproduction responsibilities. During production I directed a cast and crew of ten through two weeks of an on-location shoot. I co-edited THE VIRGINS using Final Cut Pro and graded using Apple Color. Opting to self-distribute this film I crafted the press and advertising outreach, including online content (official website, Facebook, Twitter) and designed the poster, press packet, DVD box art, and other materials. THE VIRGINS premiered at the Galaxy Cinema in Cary, NC and is available on Amazon. In order to supplement what I had learned on set and what I had taught myself I enrolled in the Film and Television MFA program at the Savannah College of Art and Design. With more productions and courses under my belt, I graduated in August 2013.
