He serves on the board of the Small Business Development Center, UA ISER Advisory Board, the Commissioner of Commerce Economic Development Council, Cold Climate Housing Research Board, Blood Bank of Alaska Capital Campaign and the JA Business Hall of Fame Laureate Selection Committee. Joe grew up in Juneau, graduated from Juneau-Douglas High School in 1970 and from the University of Alaska-Fairbanks with a BBA in Finance in 1975 and has worked throughout Alaska including Ketchikan, Juneau, Kenai, Fairbanks and Anchorage. He and his wife Barbara have been married 42 years, they have two grown children and 4 grandchildren.
