  Jos Baldov is a My name is José J. Baldoví (1986). I am the director of the 2D Smart Materials Lab, ERC grantee (StG 2021) and distinguished researcher of the Gen-T Plan of Excellence of Generalitat Valenciana in the Molecular Science Institute (ICMol) of the University of València. Our research focuses on the development of theoretical and computational frameworks for the chemical design of smart molecular/2D devices for information technologies. I completed a BSc in Chemistry (extraordinary award, University of València) carrying out the final year research project in Cambridge University, UK, where I started my research activity. Then, I joined ICMol and completed an MSc and a PhD thesis in Nanoscience and Nanotechnology at Prof. Coronado's group, both with extraordinary award. My PhD thesis, based on the chemical design of molecular nanomagnets with applications in nanoscience, molecular spintronics and quantum technologies, was achieved the highest score between all the PhD thesis in Chemistry of the University of Valencia. It was also recognized at national level at NanoMatMol Best PhD 2016 Contest (RSEQ/RSEF) and, at European level, with the best oral presentation at the VI European Conference in Molecular Magnetism (ECMM 2017). In 2017 I moved to Prof. Ángel Rubio's research group in the Max Planck Institute for the Structure and Dynamics of Matter in Hamburg, Germany, after being awarded with a Marie Curie Individual Fellowship of the European Commission. This postdoctoral experience expanded my research interests to the field of theoretical simulation of 2D materials and van der Waals heterostructures, allowing me to design novel multifunctional materials. In January 2020 I moved back to ICMol after being awarded a CDEIGENT excellence contract (336 k€) thanks to the Plan GenT of the Generalitat Valenciana. Since 2012, I am co-author of 52 Q1 scientific articles (55 in total) and a book chapter, being first author in more than 35% of them. I have given 24 invited talks at international conferences and 4 invited seminars. The publication track record includes 23 papers in 1st decile and those with high impact factors: 1x Adv. Mater, 1x Nature Phys., 1x ACS Nano, 2x Nature Commun., 1x Nano Lett., 6x Chem. Sci., 1x npj 2D Mater. and Appl., 2x J. Phys. Chem. Lett., 1x Nano Res., 1x Nanoscale, 1x Chem. Commun., 5x Chem.-Eur. J. or 10x Inorg. Chem., highlighted with 4 covers. Furthermore, I hold a Master in Science Communication that has allowed me to transfer the value of science to society through different public science articles and events.
