Captain on B-737-300/400 & 800 NG series Boeings flying mainly Australian Domestic and International Operations. I have been enjoying the time with my wife, adult children, grand children along with extended family, while adjusting to not having to go to work regularly, but still staying active in what ever I choose to do. I am enjoying the revelation of personal freedom, to do as I like, when and where I like. The last time that I felt this free is before I took my first job over fifty years ago. Of course, adequate financial preparation secures the freedom of retirement and good health enables enjoying it all. Absent either and the whole equation changes in undesirable ways. In January 2015, a week of snow skiing in Beaver Creek, Colorado. In March 2015, we enjoyed a family getaway on Grand Cayman Island in the Caribbean for a week at the Westin Resort that included a day of Scuba Diving on a sunken ship and swam with dozens of manta-rays. In December 2015, the FAA AVMED approved my Second Class Aviation Medical so I can include some pleasure flying and even fly for hire if the opportunity presents and I decide to do it. The big obstacle was the Atrial Fibrillation heart condition that grounded me from flying the Qantas A380 in August 2011 ultimately resulting in my retirement in July 2013. My next goal is finding a six seat light twin partnership to buy into for family adventures. In the mean time I will enjoy flying the Cessna 172 and other light singles along with an occasional helicopter. October to January each year is pretty much filled with deer hunting in Florida, Georgia and Alabama. Registered hunters are an integral part of deer population sustainability. Bambi died of old age in the early 1950s ; >). I purchased a Honda Pioneer 700 side-by-side UTV this last year which has added tremendous flexibility in the woods in all weather conditions. Big boy's toy! January 2016, we spent four days in the Waikiki Moana Surf Rider Westin Resort in Honolulu followed by a week in the Princeville Ocean Resort Villas, Lanai, Hawaii. The adventure continues.
