I have frequently been an early adopter of new technologies and excited to blend their power with the core technical purpose of the firms I work at. I started using Revit 1.0 in 2000, then 10 years later, harnessed our mature BIM process to improve quality and collaboration. Then as VP of Operations, I totally overhauled a disconnected Excel-based project tracking model in 2016 to a unified central dashboard model using then brand-new Power BI tools that allowed for aggregation of project and staffing data from Deltek Vision. My "secret weapon" for change is culture, building excitement and finding those other early adopters that help drive the change deep into an organization. Excitement is in fact the key ingredient in organizational change, but luckily new technologies are inherently exciting, so all I have to do is help reveal that! My other secret weapon is I tend to see things before others - I jokingly say "my problem is I live three years in the future". Sometimes a curse, but usually in the end it works out when it happens. Most recently, I have spearheaded the synergy I see between BIM technology and data tools for advanced delivery, as well as further 'automation' of technical aspects such as specifications with BIM.
