John Sampson is a As an associate professor of anesthesiology and critical care medicine at The Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine, I have over 25 years of experience in providing high-quality care to patients with complex and challenging conditions. I also serve as the director of the Johns Hopkins Global Alliance of Perioperative Professionals (GAPP), a program that aims to close the gap on global health disparities through education, training, research, direct clinical care, and advocacy. My mission is to improve medical care in Africa, where millions of people suffer from lack of access to surgery, quality care, and pain relief. I have coordinated and participated in multiple medical projects in Nigeria, Ghana, Burkina Faso, Kenya, Sierra Leone, Liberia, The Gambia and Eritrea, where I have taught and mentored local health care workers, implemented innovative technologies, and conducted research on anesthesia and critical care outcomes. I have also published several articles on the topics of anesthesia and critical care in austere environments, and I am a recognized expert and leader in this field. I am passionate about advancing the knowledge and practice of anesthesia and critical care medicine in developing countries, and I welcome any opportunities to collaborate and contribute to this cause.
