John Nelson Email & Phone Number | Growing up, I worked countless hours doing what any normal kid would do: cutting grass. When I was 12 years old, I set up my own “company,” my own schedule, and my own income. I would work hours each weekend to trim a half dozen yards in my local neighborhood, and I wouldn’t let myself go home until every blade of grass was dealt with. With all that being said, I fell in love with hard work and the sense of accomplishment it brings. And after several years of work when I decided to move on to working at Ace Hardware as the Paint Manager, I was asked what those years taught me. I think I learned the beauty of hard work. Now, I’m a full-time college student at the University of Scranton pursuing a double major in Computer Engineering and Philosophy with minors in Computer Science and Math. For the University, I work as a Tour Guide and Student Fellow at the Slattery Center for the Humanities. I help to lead the Robotics Club, our chapter of IEEE, and services of worship through Campus Ministries as a singer and musician. I engage both sides of my brain through my involvement in both the sciences and humanities, and I engage my body by playing on the Ultimate Frisbee Team. In all of this, I continue the hard work that I began as a kid, but I also continue my love for that hard work. Each day, I am grateful that I have such amazing opportunities to engage with what I love, and I don’t plan on wasting a single second. I hope to continue my story of hard work, determination, and passion for your company.
