I was definitely the kid with the endless "why?" and "how?" questions, which often led to me disassembling electronics - much to the chagrin of my parents - in attempts to figure it out myself. That curiosity has been a primary factor in driving my career where I am now a Compliance Lab Supervisor and Lead Project Compliance (Product Safety) Engineer for UL/CSA/IEC/EN Standards with 17+years of experience. The years spent on the NRTL/CBTL/3rd Party Agency side have provided me with a strong foundation in understanding and interpreting Regulatory Safety Standards for North American and European requirements. As my responsibilities increased and my roles expanded, I received Lead Assessor certifications to ISO 9001 and ISO 17025. Conducting external audits provided extensive exposure to international manufacturers and partner laboratory operations on 3 continents, which allowed me significant insight on other lab operations and how to better integrate more effective solutions for my own lab. These skills greatly benefited me in successfully facing new challenges when I switched over to the manufacturing side of the table working for a Fortune 500 power tool manufacturer. My combined experiences allow me to wear many hats, including guiding multiple power tool/outdoor products teams from concept through complete Approval and beyond, as well as leading both internal and external audits to continuously improve our procedures and products. Furthermore, I am heavily involved in sustainability practices and currently act as the lead for California Proposition 65 regulation for the company.
