Our team is directly responsible for the procurement of jet fuel that powers Southwest’s aircraft and ensuring that it is delivered safely and on-spec to both on and off-airport storage facilities. Our team is made up of good 'salt of the earth' people who are hardworking and incredibly talented; they are simply the best at what they do. Our team is comprised of 2 working groups that collaborate on a daily basis to empower Southwest to maximize the amount of direct control that we have over the entire jet fuel value chain. Our Fuel Supply Managers are responsible for the procurement of our term jet fuel supply from various sources, primarily direct from refiners, and then scheduling/shipping via pipeline systems to on-airport storage facilities. Where it makes sense to do so, they also work directly with transport companies to ensure that jet supplied via terminal is transported to on-airport storage facilities safely and ratably to meet demand. They also are responsible for sourcing spot barrels as needed to supplement spikes in demand or supply shortages. We are also one of the largest importers of jet fuel into the US west coast market, and our Sr. Fuel Supply Managers are responsible for the logistics of our imported jet fuel strategy. Our Fuel Supply Analysts support our Fuel Supply Managers with back-office transactions, accounts payable and receivable, inventory reconciliation, and fuel accounting. These hardworking folks take great pride in what they do and are vital to the success of our team. Without their support, we would be buried in paperwork and other transactions on a daily basis and would not be able to perform at the level that we do. I'm incredibly proud of this team and what they do for our amazing company every single day!
