Here I was taught the ways of a community hospital and transitioned back to paper charting. I initially started on the Telemetry units and floated to the medical/surgical units when needed as well as support staff in the ICU.I started my career as a Collegiate Nurse Intern (CNI) in 2003 where I worked paired up with a registered nurse and assisted in nursing tasks. This role taught me how to care for patients, prioritize and organize my shift tasks, give proper shift to shift report, hands on skills of prep for medication administration and sterile technique, the basics of paper charting/note writing, and much more. The CNI role helped facilitate a smoother transition to my career as a Registered Nurse in January of 2004.
