Jing Shen Email & Phone Number | Jing (James) Shen, born on October 21, 1981, in Linyi, China, is a Professor at the Department of "Light Industry & Chemistry" in the College of Materials Science and Engineering at Northeast Forestry University. He obtained his BSc and MSc degrees from Qilu University of Technology (formerly known as Shandong Institute of Light Industry) in 2002 and 2005, respectively. Starting his career as an assistant lecturer in 2005, he advanced to the position of lecturer in 2008 and went on to complete his Ph.D. at Northeast Forestry University in 2010. He was subsequently promoted to associate professor in 2010 and professor in 2015. In pursuit of his research interests, Jing (James) has been a postdoctoral fellow and visiting scholar at the University of New Brunswick, Canada, from August 2010 to November 2011, July 2013 to October 2013, August 2016 to November 2016, and January 2017 to March 2017. Throughout his career, Jing (James) has received a number of awards and honors, including the New Century Excellent Talents Program for Universities (2012), nominee for the National Excellent Doctoral Dissertation (2012), Fok Ying Tung Prize for Young Professors (2018), Longjiang Scholars Program (2018), Cai Lun Research Excellence Award for Young Professionals (2020), Nominee for the Chinese National Major Talent Program for Young Professionals (2020/2021/2023), and Heilongjiang Natural Science Program for Outstanding Young Scholars (2023). His current research focuses on sustainable papermaking processes and the development of paper-based advanced materials.
