Jimmy Vu Email & Phone Number | During the decline of our economy in 2008, I was laid off with over 6 years of experience in the telecommunications industry. With only the experience and very little college credits, it was difficult to find employment. My savings and severance was beginning to slowly deplete. I had to do something quickly. While looking for work, a friend suggested I come work in the warehouse at a company he was doing design for. I gladly excepted and it was a very humbling experience. The owner quickly saw I was more than capable than packing some boxes and I slowly started learning how to ship product all around the world. Then, it went from shipping items to importing goods, mainly from China. I learned so much from the 4 years working there. This experience then allowed me to work at a biotech company as a Shipping Manager. Although I had extensive shipping and receiving experience, this job was a totally different ballgame. I was now working with dry ice and liquid nitrogen, which had different shipping regulations that had to be learned. The amazing part was three weeks into being in this position, the person training me informed us she was leaving! I had two weeks to take notes and observe. I was able to strive in this position. Unfortunately, I was contacted and given an opportunity that would pave a career path for me and reluctantly resigned. Eventually, I ended up in the Pharmaceutical industry as a Logistics Manager. Again, it was a whole new world as I never had cGMP experience. However, this time around, I was confident in my learning abilities. In less then a year, I was given a promotion to a Manufacturing Coordinator. This meant finding my replacement who would be my direct report that ran the warehouse. In both of our positions, we wore many hats. This is my story of how I ended up in the world of Logistics and Supply Chain. I hoped you enoyed my mini novel! Cheers, JV
