Worked 9+ years in electromechanical switching and another 9+ years in digital switching. Handling all aspects of central office operations. August 1997 - June 1999 worked as an Analyst in GTE's advanced products group (NCSC). Products involved included CentraNet, Voicemail, ISDN, Cellular Digital Packet Data (CDPD), DSL, and advanced call features. June 1999 to 2014, Supervisor / Section Manager with Verizon over central office operations, Fiber Optic crew, and Technical Services crew. Digital switch types in my area of responsibility include 5ESS, DMS100, and GTD5. Fiber optics responsibility includes all interoffice fiber at the T3 to OC192 level in an area covering South Bay, Long Beach, Huntinton Beach, and Whittier. Technical Services responsibilities include the repair and maintenance of approximately 200 DC power plants throughout southern California. Equipment types include Lorain, ATT Linage, Vortec, Helios rectifiers and inverters ranging from 15 - 1600 amp. 2014 to May 2015, Supervisor over Verizon Power Group handling DC Power, Generator maintenance and repair, Automatic Transfer Switches and Blackout Testing ... New responsibilities include the addition of multiple Verizon Business sites including a Premium Data Center. Specialties: Digital switching, central office power, fiber optics May 2015 to Present, After 38 years in Telecommunications with GTE and Verizon,the time has come to seek new opportunities. Effective May 28th 2015, I have retired from Verizon and after a short rest will begin seeking new challenges. Well the rest period ended April 4 of 2016 ... Back working but this time in a far less stressful position. Enjoying life and work with the Long Beach Area Council of the Boy Scouts of America.
