The first 33 years, I spent directly employed by MPD, finishing the last six years as a Deputy Chief. In my final two years with MPD, I served as the first ever Chief of Information Systems. During my tenure with MPD, I was fortunate enough to be allowed to create the Internationally acclaimed, award winning, Real Time Crime Center. I cannot claim all of the credit. Our Director at the time (Larry Godwin) had faith in my capabilities and we (the team) set a course to create an incredible resource for all law enforcement in the area. We were able to create platforms for data sharing, license plate recognition, video surveillance, crime analysis and training. Later we instituted in-car video and body camera systems. I retired in July of 2016 and was rehired as a contract consultant for MPD where I supervised the construction and deployment of a 57 million Motorola P25 Radio system. I was also responsible for supporting several PHP web applications Active Directory support and providing SQL Server database support for several department databases. Over the years, I have designed several web applications for the department where we were able to bring several disparate data silos into a single search engine and share that data back out to Federal, State and Local law enforcement agencies. My contract with MPD has expired. I am now looking for a new position where I will be working with a group of self motivated individuals to do something great!
