Jewel Miralles White Dvm Email & Phone Number | I am currently the Senior Manager of Animal Health and Welfare of Maple Leaf Agri-farms ( MLAF), a division of Maple Leaf Foods Incorporated. I am largely focusing on the health and animal welfare of MLAF’s pigs. At a young age, I grew up in the Philippines and has helped my parents raise pigs in our backyard. After graduating from the University of the Philippines, College of Veterinary Medicine in 2004, I entered swine practice and became a farm veterinarian for a pig production company in the Philippines prior to becoming a Technical Veterinarian for a feed company, where a part of my role was to teach producers how to raise pigs across the country. I came to Canada in 2007, and worked in different swine production units as an Animal Care Technician. Prior to taking my North American Veterinary Licensing examinations,I completed the refresher program for international veterinary graduates called Veterinary Skills Training and Enhancement Program ( VSTEP) in the University of Guelph in 2013. Upon passing the examinations and completing all the requirements, I attained my license to practice Veterinary Medicine in North America on 2014 and has been with Maple Leaf Agrifarms since then. I always strive to advocate strongly on behalf of the pigs, and I am passionate about food security. As of 2022, I have a total of eighteen years of combined experience in swine production and medicine. As the leader of MLAF’s Animal health team, my greatest focus is on the animal health and welfare of Raise Without Antibiotics ( RWA ) pigs, Gestation Crate Free ( GCF) pigs and multiplication pigs of Maple Leaf Agrifarms. I am currently an active member of American Association of Swine Veterinarians ( AASV), Canadian Association of Swine Veterinarians ( CASV), Western Canadian Association of Swine Veterinarians ( WCASV), Canadian Veterinary Medical Association ( CVMA) and Manitoba Veterinary Medical Association ( MVMA). I am also a member of CASV’s Animal Welfare Committee and one of WCASV’s Director at Large.
