I found a job working onsite as a contracted nurse taking care of the employees. All the knowledge I gained over the years was being put to use everyday, I loved getting to meet the new hires and take care of the current employees, but I was falling way behind on some of my other skills (blood draw, injections, IVs). I transitioned to a supervisory role for 1 year then began looking to work closer to my family. I currently work as one of the LVN floats for a very busy, 3-story multi-specialty clinic in Temescal Valley. I am regularly invited to be a part of our outreach initiatives like providing the local community with covid/flu vaccines via a drive thru, or in the clinic. I recently was given the opportunity to go on-site to do employee health screenings and represent my company. I have worked regularly in the following departments over the last 3 years: occupational medicine, cardiology, ENT, dermatology, OBGYN, orthopedics, adult medicine/family practice, worked with residents (continuity clinic), pain management, general surgery, urgent care, neurology, gastroenterology, pulmonology, urology. I’ve learned and been through so much during my career on paper, when in reality my fascination with the human body and human condition started when I had open heart surgery at the age of six. My favorite part of my job is sharing all the crazy factoids I’ve learned during my career/life and explaining super complex health issues in a way patients understand. I love to get my patients excited about taking charge of their health and the more they understand why we give certain medications the more compliant they are.
