Besides working with computers, I've been in the army for 10 years, including a UN posting in former Yougoslavia, which ensured that I did not end up a total computer geek. Since taking my degree in Computer Science (Datamatiker) in 1996, I've been working professionally with all aspects of developing software (analysis, design, implementation, planning, management and outsourcing) and have also taken on database administration, hardware maintenance, consultancy, teaching and team leadership. I've used a bunch of languages, tools and methods, but I primarily see myself as a backend Java Architect/Developer, as I've been using Java since 1997, even though I've also worked as a C# SCADA developer. My primary focus has been to develop clean and effective code, preferably as part of a well functioning team. I'm very fascinated by agile methods (TDD, Scrum) and how to use them most effectively. Lately I've begun working more in a Devops role though as part of our ongoing migration to the cloud.
