With a proven history of working with food, water, environmental and clinical microorganisms (up to and including ACDP Hazard Level 3), I have a thorough knowledge and understanding of the isolation, culture, handling and identification methods of a wide variety of common and fastidious microorganisms. Underpinning these practical skills is a comprehensive knowledge of the role of microorganisms in industrial and disease processes, and my studies extend to related fields such as Parasitology, Epidemiology and Immunology. Although Microbiology has always been my main interest, I took the opportunity, whilst living and working in the South West of England, to gain my P401 Certificate in the Bulk Analysis of Asbestos (a method that employs stereomicroscopy and polarised light microscopy to identify the presence or absence of Asbestos fibres in bulk samples). My last post in the South West was with REC Ltd, a nationwide company involved the surveying of commercial and residential premises for Asbestos. I am seeking a full-time position in the London / Surrey area, and am looking to take the opportunity to utilitise and build on the skills I have been developing since my undergraduate studies at Manchester University.
