I also have a passion for client counseling and putting the right team of professionals together to manage, grow and best position a client's intellectual property portfolio. The importance of intangible assets has never been greater. Today, the value of a company’s intangible assets often exceeds the value of its physical assets. I enjoy working with clients to develop and implement a strategy for identifying and protecting inventions and other forms of intellectual property. My love for the law also influences what I do. Striking the right balance between protecting innovation, promoting fair competition, and recognizing the benefits to society helps shape our intellectual property laws and has always intrigued me. I use my interest in the law as a way of giving back to the profession, teaching intellectual property classes at the University of Iowa College of Law as an adjunct professor. I am also a certified mediator, helping parties resolve their intellectual property disputes as an alternative to litigation.
