My Certification through the State of Michigan is a BMMT Certificate, which stands for Business, Marketing, Management, and Technology. My first career experience comes from working as an Allstate Insurance Agent for about 5 yrs then I became an Allstate agent for about 5 years. November 2000 I sold my insurance Agency to another Allstate agent. I then worked for a Tier One automotive supplier for about 2 years as an assistant to a Buyer. My next career move I became a Mortgage Broker and sold mortgages for about 7 years until the housing market bubble burst. My next and last career change was to become a teacher using my Business Administration degree that I recieved from Hope College to become a teacher. I started as a Substitute teacher back in 2009 for a couple years before I chose to go back to school to get my teaching certificate. I kept subbing while I went back to school to recieve my Masters Degree in Secondary Education. My first job as a full-time Business Teacher was at Britton Deerfield High School in Britton, MI, 2015-2016. I taught 2 hours of Accounting, Marketing, Desktop Publishing, and Computers. Due to low enrollment I was let go. Fall 2016, I started as a part-time teacher at Wayne Westland Community Schools teaching computer Applications to students at Stevenson Middle School. Second semester I was hired as a full-time teacher at Stevenson MS and John Glenn HS. I taught Career Awareness and Computer software. I am now in my 3 year as a full-time Business Education teacher at John Glenn High School in Westland, MI teaching Accounting, Finance, Marketing, and Business and Personal Law.
