To sum up my experience in short, I have operated since 2007 as the Executive Director of the Mental Health & Addiction Services division, which leads approximately 750 staffers. My experience involves strategy development, maintaining high levels of service across the organisation, driving cost savings, achieving performance improvements and better practices with our customers - namely, the public. Throughout my career, I've dealt with all types of business scenarios, whether small and large, including ensuring the quality of day-to-day performance, union negotiations, vendor relations, and short & long term planning. Prior to that role, I have been the GM of another division at the Waikato District Health Board, and was also in charge of regional contracts for the Ministry of Social Development. My interests also expand to roles that involve training, service optimisation, driving culture change, and academic study around leadership. I've been fortunate to be able to put into practice and achieve positive results across my real world experience and have driven change in organisations on numerous occasions. I enjoy carrying out work that is 'brave' and enjoy seeing where things should be, rather than how they are and accept the status quo. At the same time, sometimes we don't need to change them either, and it takes a good leader to realise and accept that. Outside of work, I enjoy giving back to the community & participating as a business mentor for graduates. I've also been a judge for a Dragon's Den MBA program.
