Jeff Behm Email & Phone Number | In 1984, I left my corporate management position of 10 years with MCL Restaurant and Bakery, based in Indianapolis, IN. to pursue my dream of becoming a commercial and advertising photographer. Starting from scratch in our home in western Pennsylvania, by 1989 we had outgrown the home studio and begun the search for a suitable new location, finally finding the perfect location in downtown New Castle, PA. Our restoration of the historic 22,000 sq ft Kirk Hutton Hardware on the town square won State Historic Preservation awards. This enormous space allowed us to have a white cyclorama as well as a black one, multiple sets in operation at the same time, two darkrooms for film and print development, offices, consultation rooms, a paint room, break area, and carpentry space. The bulk of our work then was direct-to-end-user for manufacturing firms in this heavily industrialized western PA region, 50 miles north of Pittsburgh. Snark Sailboats, Werner Ladders, R.E Whittaker Co, Universal Rundle, Trinity Industries (Dallas TX), Lockley Manufacturing, Rockwell Axle, Woodmere China, Shenango Pottery and scores of others were our clientele. With the passage of NAFTA, the rapid exodus of industry to Mexico and other nations changed the region substantially, which caused us to downsize for a number of years, before finding the vibrant city of Frederick, MD during a visit to my recently married daughter, in their new Frederick home. Eight months later, Jeff Behm Photography was added to the mix here in Frederick. Adapting quickly to the high technology economy of the Frederick-Washington DC-Baltimore region, we've found a niche in medical equipment and bio-tech, like Medispec and Rooster Bio. But the true calling has turned out to be the demanding disciplines of food and jewelry photography. Food and Jewelry have now taken an important place in Jeff Behm Photography's business model, much like heavy industry did, once upon a time.
