Janet Bayer Email & Phone Number | It has been an honor and a pleasure to work at Marsh Elementary, Kishwaukee Elementary school, Barbour Academy, Walker, Lewis Lemon, and Carlson Schools over the past few years.Most recently I have held an ESL teaching position for the last four years. I taught Kindergarten through Fifth Grades in Language Arts and Math. Prior to this position this time I have taught two summers with the Summer Bridges Program, held the position of Title 1 Tutor at Walker and Kishwuakee, and taught in the 21st Century After School Programs. I feel I have grown from these opportunities. The ESL and Title 1 Tutor positions have provided a wealth of experiences meeting the needs of eight groups of students, with varying abilities and challenges. I set goals for each student and designed instruction appropriate to their needs and abilities. The lessons I wrote were intended to help them make connections to other content areas. I collaborated with teachers to work on skills and themes covered in their reading groups and social studies. My goal was to help build back ground, vocabulary, and enhance their body of knowledge. This is especially valuable for the ESL students in my groups. All my life experiences continually give me a wealth of knowledge to draw from when teaching and working with children. I plan to continue take part in the myriad of professional development opportunities provided through the Regional Office of Education.
