Everywhere I go, I have a book with me in some form and love working in the publishing industry. I am a project manager with 15+ years in educational publishing. My typical workload these days consist of 3-5 core titles and 3-6 supplemental products simultaneously. Core projects last 6 months to a year, usually, and supplemental projects can last around 3-6 months. The production of a books is a bit like putting a puzzle together and I love the challenge of pulling it all together. I work with a variety of editorial team members, offshore vendors, and numerous freelancers to complete each stage of the process. Most of all, I enjoy working with the authors to get their book published. The experience I have gained has helped me foreshadow possible issues before they happen and know how to fix problems if they do arise. I have just started my journey back in school to receive my Masters of Science in Publishing from Pace University's Dyson College of Arts and Sciences, so that I can learn more about the industry from professionals who work in publishing every day. The courses I am taking will, I hope, teach me about the other areas of publishing, difficulties the industry is facing, and solutions to keep publishing books! I put a lot of time and dedication into the work that I do and it has paid off. I have received several comments from coworkers who appreciate my "eagle eye" and reassuring attitude. I work hard to get the job done on time and always try to prevent extra work requirements by one team in order to keep the project moving.
