I earned my Bachelor of Science in Health Information Management from the University of Pittsburgh. I started my career at St. Clair Hospital in Pittsburgh, PA as an Oncology Registrar. I then moved on to the position of Director Health Information Management Services at Laurel Crest Rehabilitation and Special Care Center in Ebensburg, PA. From there I moved to the PA Department of Corrections as a Medical Records Supervisor at SCI-Somerset. I continued employment with the state and transferred to the Ebensburg Center (a state center for the Intellectually Disabled). In November of 2014, I was offered my dream job, as an educator. I am currently the Health Information Technology Program Coordinator at the South Hills School of Business and Technology in Altoona, PA. This is a CAHIIM-accredited program. I serve as the Advisor for all HIT students and coordinate all HIT internships. I also instruct all medical students. Some of the courses I teach are , Introduction to the Healthcare Field, Quality Improvement and Data Analytics, Healthcare Statistics, Health Records in Other Settings, Health Data Content and Reimbursement, and Computer Systems in Health Information Technology.
