I was dissatisfied with how I saw learning was being handled in our schools. Students seemed uninterested and their curiosity was treated as a roadblock, not an opportunity. I made it my mission to find better ways to engage students and to show them how to have fun while learning. I want students to want to learn and to see the value in doing so. For the last few years, I helped to pioneer new courses at my school such as civics, film, global justice, and social justice lab, all of which have become foundation classes at our school. Finally, I firmly believe that in order for students to learn and maximize their potential, students need to feel good about themselves. I can proudly say that I have established a strong and respectful rapport with every student I've encountered. For this reason, students in my classroom feel safe and maintain their ambition.
