I started my career on an advanced apprentice in a machine and fitting shop based around mechanical engineering and machining. Once my apprenticeship was over I progressed to new opportunities. During this time I advanced onto 3 and 4 axis CNC milling machines. In addition to CNC work, I would go to different sites and factories to perform various duties such as, equipment maintenance, fitting and, equipment modifications. My next opportunity was working at nuclear power stations and training to become a CASK technician. A role which was brand new to the UK, playing my part in the first dry fuel store project at Sizewell B. Being part of a team conducting the non-active and active commissioning of the dry fuel storage process, resulting in the safe transfer, processing and storage of irradiated spent nuclear fuel from storage pools/ponds, into dry storage CASKS. I then moved onto the next project which was at Chernobyl, CHNPP ISF2. I spent 2 years there, as part of a team successfully commissioning and testing the spent fuel storage facility, and equipment, In readiness for the safe storage of spent nuclear fuel, from Chernobyls RMBK-1000 reactors. My position during this project was Work stream Lead. My current role is Lead CASK loading Supervisor. Supervising the pool to pad spent nuclear fuel storage for Holtec international working at different locations around the world.
