I started working in 1984 after graduating with a Diploma in Graphic Design. My first role was as an Art Director in the advertising industry. This early stage of my career gave me experience in a broad range of industry skills, from creative concept and design through to artwork and print production. My expertise quickly grew taking me into other areas of advertising and communications, such as campaign development and product branding. Later, an interest in pure design saw me move from advertising into the specialist graphic design industry, becoming senior designer at a Perth-based graphic design studio. For the following five years I worked in branding design and application, product design and packaging, direct marketing, display design and print production. As a graphic designer and Art Director I also have expertise and experience directing photographic shoots. I began JCR Design in 1992 and currently work with clients from a wide variety of industries, including retail, tourism, government agencies, mining and oil and gas. During the last 25 years I have gained further experience in client liaison, corporate strategies and campaigns, e-marketing, website design and implementation and company start-ups and listings documents. In my own business I work closely with other professionals in the communications industry, including advertising agency Creative Directors and Art Directors, Marketing consultants and Publicity and Public Relations specialists.
