Jaden Welch Email & Phone Number | I am currently responsible for all aspects of engineering for the City of Raton, New Mexico. This includes the municipally owned and operated electrical power utility and water department as well as local government facilities and other public services such as parks, roads, and solid waste. This requires me to apply elements of Electrical, Civil, Structural, and Environmental Engineering. This role is well suited to my diverse background, which began at a very young age working in construction as a third-generation tile contractor. Although my formative training was in tile, I gained experience in all aspects of construction including framing, carpentry, plumbing, and electrical. In 2009, economic conditions directed me back to college where I obtained a Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering from the ABET accredited University of Washington. Directly out of college I was hired as a Program Manager at an industry leading power electronics company that specializes in radiation hardened chip-and-wire construction "hybrid" power modules where I helped develop the Project Management Office (PMO) and obtained my Project Management Professional (PMP) Certificate from the Project Management Institute (PMI). After five years of working in Program Management I decided it was time for a change and pivoted into a direct management role as a Failure Analysis Engineering Supervisor. In this role I flourished working as a multi-disciplinary manager for nearly five more years. I thoroughly enjoyed Failure Analysis which had elements of Electrical, Process, Mechanical, Manufacturing, and Component Engineering. The COVID-19 pandemic hit my family particularly hard and caused us to reassess our life priorities; we ultimately decided to relocate to Raton, New Mexico. I continued to work remotely for our first 18 months in Raton, but my company eventually initiated a strict return to office policy, which I was not willing to comply with for the aforementioned personal reasons. That brings me to my next chapter, mentioned at the outset, which I am now writing with the same passion and drive I have carried with me for my entire life. I am excited to be in such a pivotal position to help the City of Raton realize its full potential!
