Over the last eight (8) years alone, I have served as the Permanent Secretary in The Ministry of Gender, Children and Social Development in the Government of Kenya (2012-2013) and as the Secretary for Children’s Affairs (2008-2012). I continue to serve as a policy advisor, consultant and researcher on leadership, good governance, gender and social protection with various national and international organizations. These include the African Development Bank, UNDP, UN Women (Regional and Country Offices) the Center for Parliamentary Studies (CPST), the Council of Governors (CoG), County Governments, the National Democratic Institute (NDI), the Commission on the Implementation of the Constitution (CIC), IntraHealth and Child Fund. I have served as a Rockefeller Post –Doctoral Fellow at the Centre for African Studies at the University of Illinois at Urbana Champaign, USA and Chair of Faculty at the USIU-Africa. I am an expert member and Research Fellow of UNESCO’S programme on Gender and Women’s Studies in the Universities in the Great Lakes Region.
