Growing up just a few miles from the Indianapolis Motor Speedway, it’s easy to see how the culture shaped my love for anything with four wheels and an engine. As I grew older, I wanted to be more involved with the sport in a way that I could utilize my skills. That’s what drew me into web development. Why not become an engineer or a mechanic you ask? Let me explain… It’s clear that a few things are necessary in auto racing. 1. You need a car, engine, and tires 2. A team & driver 3. Transportation (truck, trailer, gas) 4. Spare parts, equipment, and machinery And what is the common component between all of these items? They all cost money, and many times those items cost more than what a car owner can afford. So how do these teams make it to the track each weekend to go racing? Well, have you ever wondered why you see company logos like Lowes, or Budweiser on the hood of a racecar? Those companies exchange sponsorship dollars for brand recognition. The more opportunity that teams can offer brand recognition to the sponsor, the higher the likelihood a company will exchange sponsorship. This is where I, as a web developer, come into play; by bringing those racing teams to the online world. While I may have branched out from building websites just for auto racing, my roots and passions still remain. Simply put, the sport I love drives me to hone my own skills as a web designer and web applications developer.
