  Jack Yuen is a Some people grow old and wise. Others just grow old. At 65, what I aware of NOW... puts my 45 year old self to shame. It is an exponential increase rather than a slow regression. In my youth, I played the 'JACK of all trades' game. Then I learnt that the full version was "JACK of all trades - but master of NONE". What a deflater! I knuckled down to specialise on the one thing. Believing that this was the answer to all my problems. I embraced the PARETO principle. "Do the 20% that will get 80% of the results". Dogged pursuit has a major downfall. NUANCE is left behind. Olympians spend chunks of '4-years' chasing a medal. The lucky ones don't get one. The ones who 'medal', get slapped with the invisible hand of 'letdown'. "What's next?" is a hard question to answer. Unfortunately, "JUMP OUT THE WINDOW" is always putting its hand up as the answer. It took me getting to the ripe age of 65 before I heard someone saying last year that I had missed something. The full description of JACK goes like this: "JACK of all trades: Master of NONE. BUT Better than master of ONE". This rocked my foundational thinking. That third missing line jumped out, twisted my head around, ripped off my narrow focus glasses and opened my eyes to what I had (always) innately defaulted to. I had been 'TALENT-STACKING" all my life! Never getting to being a master of anything, I was building up a pile of "PRETTY GOOD at lots of things". Being the BEST gets a small segment of time on a crowded stage. The intersection of a few good talents is what creates a traffic JAM around that individual who created that crossing. I rather be controlling that TRAFFIC JAAAAAAAAAM - than showing off briefly atop the celebrity stage. Longevity favours a strong CORE controlling its feeding tentacles. Some people call it a foundation. But foundations cannot be re-built without dislodging the superstructure. You can always add to your CORE because it is synchronous to your life. Talent stacking has developed my CORE - and will continue to do so. So where does the BELL CURVE and the PARETO Principle sneak back into the game of life? I have been thinking about this question lately. And I think I am fairly close to the answer.......
