Ira Livshits Email & Phone Number | My research expertise is in the field of general computational mathematics, with an emphasis on numerical modeling and simulations; multigrid/multiscale methods in computing; partial differential equations; eigenproblems, graphs, deep learning. I have developed and also implemented a variety of computational algorithms, using Forton and C(long time ago), C++, Matlab, and most recently Python (with PyTorch, Numpy, Pandas and others). My current research interests are in combining deep learning predictions as a preconditioner to multigrid methods for partial differential equations, with an emphasis on computing optical flow. I am at the point of one more change in my career where I would like to use my knowledge, expertise, and experience in a new (for me), high-tech environment, working on solving challenging applied problems. During my academic career, I worked on many individual projects but mostly enjoyed collaborative work, both in academic settings and working with computational mathematicians at Lawrence Livermore Labs or engineers (at Carnegie Mellon, TU Delft, Univ of Twente). I am looking for a research position at high-tech industry that requires working on challenging computing problems that will allow me to use my academic expertise. I have change directions of my work many times and I will be happy to learn and adapt when it comes to working on new problems. I have a strong professional writing (have authored and ca-authored around 30 papers) and presentations skills, rich mentoring experience (advised graduate students and collaborated with young scientists). My preference is in work that is related to deep learning, especially if it somewhat open-ended, i.e., allows space for innovation and research (vs retraining the last fc layer). I am looking for a position in Bay Area, preferably near Mountain View, Sunnyvale, Cupertino.
