Previously Ian worked for 16 years in key account management sales within the alcoholic beverage (Guinness, Diagio, H.P. Bulmer), toy (Hasbro), personal care (Robert McBride) and food markets (Sun Valley Foods - Cargill) with one year in marketing as a Brand Manager. Ian is a resourceful, innovative, flexible and successful lecturer and researcher with interests centered on negotiation and conflict management theory in a commercial context. Specialties: Influenced by extensive practical experience Ian used the Critical Incident Technique with an Interpretive Framework for coding to investigate conflict and the salesperson’s internal selling role, salesperson customer advocacy, conflict composition and the behavioral sequences adopted in the management of complex inter-personal, intra-organisational conflict episodes. Other research interests have included personal selling, past, present and future where Ian conducted the U.S. research.
