I worked at MilliporeSigma as a disease model scientist in organoid tissue cultures (skin, kidney, intestine, etc.) and ES/iPS cells for product/assay development. During my 16 years training in graduate school and postdoctoral research as a virologist in human papillomavirus type 18 (HPV-18; a DNA tumor virus), I was the first virologist robustly propagating wild-type HPV-18 when HPVs were discovered in 1970s (cover image on Genes & Dev in January, 2009). I also achieved: 1. Studies of virus-host interactions, novel HPV RNA splicing and viral oncogene function (Wang et al., 2009, Genes & Dev; Kho & Wang et al., 2013, PNAS). 2. HPV-skin disease model development (Wang et al., 2015, Cervical Cancer). External collaborations to prove the high quality of my skin disease model (Xu et al., 2019, mBio; Wang et al., 2014 PNAS; Wang et al., RNA 2009, etc.) 3. Anti-HPV drug screening/discovery (Banerjee al., 2018 & 2019, Antiviral Research). 4. HPV vaccines (Gardasil and HPV L2 capsid protein based) characterization (Wang et al., 2016, Vaccine; Jagu et al., 2013, J Virol). During my 6 years master's and post-master's degree training, I worked as a protein chemist/enzymologist in human alcohol/aldehyde dehydrogenase characterization and PCR genotyping (Yao et al., 2011, Human Genomics; Chen et al., 1999, Alcohol Clin Exp Res).
