In that role, reporting to the Dean of the Medical School, I was responsible for the design and delivery of information technology services, biomedical library access, research computing infrastructure, clinical data warehousing, data privacy and educational technologies to a population of over 10,000 Stanford faculty, staff and students. From 2004 until 2013 I was the founding Director of Stanford’s Center for Clinical Informatics and the Director of the Stanford University’s Translational Informatics Program. I participated in the selection and implementation of Stanford's electronic health records (EHR) systems. My academic teaching and research at Harvard, The University of Pittsburgh and Stanford has focused on the development and evaluation of innovative applications of computer science to improve human health, with a particular focus on the electronic health record (EHR), integration of imaging into the EHR, clinical decision support, secondary uses of health information and eHealth applications using mobile computing technologies. I am interested in opportunities for collaboration with others who are passionate about improving and transforming human health using innovative information technology solutions.
