In my daily work as a road- and traffic engineer I get to shape the environment we live in, in a very concrete way, which is something I enjoy. By doing so I get to combine logical thinking and social skills, key elements within the business. As a consultant at Atkins I have been responsible to suggest traffic solutions such as turning spaces, roundabouts, parkings and junctions. This in cooperation with our clients which are mainly Trafikverket and municipalities, but also lately private customers such as NCC and Implenia. Road projects do often involve more than only the road design itself. Many other "techniques" and people with other competences, such as water and sewer, geotechnic and environment, need to be involved in the process of bringing the best solution. This has given me a good platform to work with and also coordinate other people. Recently I have taken the role as a data coordinator which has given me a good insight of the whole prospect of a project. I also get to come closer to our clients. In a couple of years I see myself still working with road- and traffic design and be in charge of small- and midsize projects as I enjoy working and interacting with people.
