In all honesty, I may have a college degree solely for that reason. Frequently, I take on new subjects and tasks, just to see if I can figure out how to master them. I believe that we should never stop learning and growing - a belief I find challenged in the post-college world. I function best visually, linguistically, and logically. I have a degree in English, with teacher certification in two states. However, during my first year teaching, photography sucked me in and took me on a wild ride. The logic portion of my brain has no real explanation. Numbers, systems, and puzzles make my brain happy. I'll blame it on being an only child and needing things to fill the long car rides to see family.I adore adventures, and more importantly, challenges. As an educator, I want all students in my classroom to know that they are capable of so much more than just coasting by on easy, and I will be there to push them out of their comfort zones, even if they’re not sure about the parachute they've created with me. Too many people have accepted average when they are capable of extraordinary, and every student deserves to find out what extraordinary feels like. For so many students, a tiny taste of unexpected achievement is enough to set the bar higher for next time and foster a sense of self-determination that follows them through the rest of their lives. Convincing my students that they always have another push, a little more effort, even when it seems they've given all they can, is my biggest goal in the classroom.
