Heather Hickey Email & Phone Number | I have been chasing the high that comes from writing since I was a child; I had a near-maniacal excitement for the speech-writing unit every year in elementary school and one of my fondest (nerdiest) memories from high school was a scathing movie review of "Turner and Hooch". After graduating with Honours from an English Rhetoric & Professional Writing program, I stepped onto the roller coaster ride at a small company called RIM (now BlackBerry). The onslaught of writing opportunities meant there was never a dull moment: technical documentation, executive slide presentations, recruiting materials. I also had the chance to work in a project coordination capacity, which taught me how to communicate with clarity and diplomacy. After RIM, I took time away from full-time employment to be at home with my children, but the siren call of writing never faded. I volunteered my writing skills for non-profit organizations and school programs; I created the marketing materials for my home esthetics business; I blogged for pro wrestling websites late into the night while my kids slept. When it was time to start punching a clock again, I had the privilege of writing for three very different tech companies. I helped eleven-x establish their brand as a pioneer in the IoT networking space, dug deep into the product at Cognitive Systems and translated that into caring and thorough support documentation, and wrote as the voice of Emmetros for an audience of caregivers and people living with dementia. After freelancing for a year with several small tech companies, I have decided to hang my hat with HRNX Integrations. The level of care that they put into their work, coupled with the creative freedom they afford me as a marketer, has me incredibly excited for what I can contribute and learn. The saying goes that if you are doing something that you love, then you never work a day in your life. And while some writing is indeed for the sake of getting a job done, to find the joy in each task makes for a great day at work.
