After working for almost 30 years in public sector my last 7 years was spent in private sector. Both very challenging and quite different, I was able to utilise my skills and qualifications as Project Manager. Several years ago I took a postgraduate qualification in Project Management, PRINCE2 practitioner and MSP practitioner. Prior to this I completed an HNC in Computer Studies and NVQ4 in Management. Most recently I completed an ‘Open’ degree with the Open University, my subjects were diverse – web design, IT, creative writing to name a few. During my paid employment my work crossed many sectors including project managing a number of large procurement projects e.g. waste disposal, solar panels, Test/Project Manager for IT projects including production of Statement of Requirements. Project manager for efficiency reviews, service restructuring, business travel review, transport, highways, contract variations. Contract Manager for a business travel contract. Setting up and delivering training and workshops in negotiation, risk management and project management. I have developed a bespoke project management methodology and trained senior management in its principles. I have so many passions I’m pursuing these now. I am a volunteer at a local library including taking books to people who are unable to get to the library. During my ‘gap year’ I have set myself a number of challenges including learning to play chess, finishing a book I started a few years ago, photography, more voluntary work as opportunities arise, walking, reading, charity knitting and visiting new places. I am passionate about social inclusion and should a paid opportunity arise that utilises my skillset and ticks the social inclusion box I would consider this however I just want achieve as many of my goals as I can and take stock at the end of this year and plan for the next one.
