Hayley Clymer Email & Phone Number | I have dedicated the past 6 years to thoroughly studying the human body; how to care for it and treat it. After earning a Bachelor of Science degree in Kinesiology at CSUSM, I was accepted into the accelerated nursing program and earned my Bachelor of Science degree in Nursing. During my schooling, I have learned general nursing skills, patient centered care, teamwork, time management, and experience with different charting systems. For the past 9 months, I have also been volunteering at CSUSM School of Nursing Student Healthcare Project, first as a student nurse volunteer, and now as an RN volunteer, caring for the underserved population in Ocean Beach. I have had hands on patient care including: intake and health history, vitals, assessment, and wound care. Additionally, I have created/managed marketing for the clinic by making brochures, fliers, and creating social media accounts, created downtime procedures for our EMR, and developed a spreadsheet database for our patient assist forms for free medications. I have also had the opportunity to travel abroad As an RN Student in association with the President’s Emergency Plan for AIDS Relief (PEPFAR) and the U.S. DoD. Along with professors and cohort members, I traveled to Swaziland to work at a clinic and hospice care center and applied what I have learned in the classroom to real-world situations. During this time, I was a part of a team that worked on different projects such as HIV education, hypertension and diabetes education/testing, teaching nurses at the clinic how to triage their patients, as well as basic wound care and patient assessment. I was selected by faculty to lead a data entry project for military EMR for the military members to assist in keeping track of and accessing the health information of their personnel. My education, my international nursing experience, volunteer experience and my have taught me critical thinking, tailoring care based on cultural norms, and excellent communication skills.
