  Hannah Christensen is a I am an expert in the representation of uncertainty in numerical weather prediction and climate predictions. I am particularly interested in the development of stochastic parametrisation schemes which represent forecast uncertainty that stems from the formulation of the computer model. My current research focus is on ways to take very successful stochastic parametrisation schemes from the weather forecasting community, and develop them for climate prediction. I am also interested in probabilistic forecast verification, including the development of new statistical techniques for evaluating forecasts. I routinely produce data analysis and visualisation software, working with large datasets from atmospheric models. I am experienced with global atmospheric model development, having implemented and evaluated new stochastic approaches in the European Centre for Medium Range Weather Forecasts numerical weather prediction model, the EC-Earth climate model, and the National Center for Atmospheric Research's Community Earth System Model. I am passionate about science communication. I have written for The Guardian website, appeared as a guest speaker in several podcasts, and have contributed to articles on weather or climate prediction, particularly when it concerns uncertainty in forecasts. I have presented my work to members of the insurance industry, civil servants, Members of Parliament (UK) and Senators (US). I also enjoy participating in public outreach events, and encouraging the next generation of women physicists through mentoring and school visits.
