It is delicate and has a georgeous reddish-pink colour and produces a firm fillet. Healthy as well as tasty, this fish is rich in omega 3, vitamins and minerals. Our producers raise the Arctic Charr in fresh cold running water. Unique, pure and untainted, Iceland´s pristine environment produces fresh cold water and warm geothermal water from natural and unpolluted sources. The fish feed used is made from local raw materials found naturally in Iceland. Antibiotics or growth hormones are never used, nor do the producers farm genetically modified fish. All the products are free from added preservatives. Because it is a very slow-growing fish, taking at least 2 years to reach marketable size, the Charr commands higher prices. Arctic Charr can be used in any recipe calling for a firm-fleshed fish and is excellent baked, broiled, grilled, pan-fried, sauteed or steamed. A treat for any menu. Taste-wise, Arctic Char is said to combine the delicious flavors of Brook Trout and Salmon, thus recipes calling for Arctic Char adapt well to both Salmon and Trout. Choose fresh, frozen or smoked – we guarantee high quality year-round. A healthy sustainable choice. The Arctic Charr generally run 2-4 pounds and is available head-on dressed. Fillets range in size from 8-20 ounces. Arctic Charr which has been handled and stored properly should retain optimum quality for 3-4 days. Our Arctic Charr is raised in land-based closed-cycle systems and is considered to be among the most environmentally responsible aquaculture designs there is, have minimal impact on surrounding water resources and virtually no risk of escapement.
