Prior to that, I led the Australian Fire Danger Rating Systems program and the National Burning Project, both of which were complex national programs involving extensive collaboration and high level program management skills . Other key achievements are developing a comprehensive performance improvement program that increased safety and effectiveness of firefighters, leading a taskforce working with the Victorian Bushfires Royal Commission to develop new programs to improve public safety after the tragic 2009 Black Saturday bushfires that killed 177 people, and re-energising and refocussing a dispirited management team and supporting staff and volunteers with low morale and into a high performance team. I am also an experienced and knowledgeable tour guide that specialises in small group private tours exploring the history and culture of Melbourne and regional Victoria.
