When we are not achieving our true potential, feelings of inadequacy and not living up to our highest self can turn to depression and anxiety. I believe depression and anxiety are the primary root causes preventing all of us from achieving our highest self. When ignored, those feelings surface in the vices we turn to in life. Vices such as, drug and alcohol abuse, overeating, infidelity, pornography or binge-watching/scrolling are just some of many that millions of us struggle with on a daily basis. I believe this because I suffered from PTSD, anxiety and depression. Even with a successful military and entrepreneurial career, I was deeply unhappy. I felt alone and unloved. I spent my time turning to alcohol and overeating for comfort. I craved to feel love and would chase after toxic relationships, forming dependency bonds with people to feel important, loved or special. When these vices of mine would inevitably fail me, I would spiral deeper into depression. I hit rock bottom when I was in a relationship and my fiancé at the time told me I should "slit my wrists then" when I told her I was having suicidal thoughts. I went to grab my pistol to end it all. Luckily, I didn't commit suicide that day. I sought help. I sought coaching and mentorship. I started my path towards self mastery and self awareness. It was on this journey that I realized....I was the problem. If I wanted to be an example, "Be The Difference" in this life and in the lives of others I had to make a change. I spent years testing what worked, and failing with what didn't work. The path was not easy, however I did find myself. I discovered that my potential was unknown and unlimited, as is everyone else's. Additionally, I discovered that physical fitness and living a healthy lifestyle was a "gateway drug" to a more fulfilling life. It helped my confidence, my self worth, my ability to handle stress and become more resilient and it increased my discipline. Since starting my journey, every area of my life has improved. The relationship with my kids. My relationship with God. My success in business. I want to share my experiences with others that feel unloved, alone, and stuck in life like I did.
