Nearly 30 years' experience has taught me that a high level of compassion and sensitivity is needed to be effective in dealing with many Family Law cases. As legal representative and advocate, my role is: to give sound practical legal advice to help the client make the best choices; to clearly explain the legal options available; the legal process, likely costs and timing; to get the job done as efficiently as possible to try to minimise stress for my clients in what is often a confusing and emotionally difficult time. The best results come from out of court settlements: through negotiation or mediation. Taking one's chances with the Court to solve family disputes can be a very costly gamble. Court disputes will often be more emotionally draining, but sometimes cannot be avoided.
