Having a Blacksmith background has been an enormous advantage in the boiler-making trade as metallurgical side to working with steel comes into play quite a bit e.g., heat treatment, welding, distortion, PWHT and distortion control . Most of my early years were spent working in various workshops and mine sites throughout the south west of Western Australia working around the fabrication, construction, maintenance shut down industry as a boilermaker welder. My experience and knowledge in the industry led me to leading hand positions then to supervisory rolls and then to Management appointments.
