My interest in 'non-native', specifically migrant, language use led me to do a PhD which I completed in 2016. My mixed methods research lies at the interface of Sociolinguistics, Phonetics and Second Language Acquisition, in particular, the acquisition of vernacular accent variation in language contact settings. I am a proactive and creative educator with extensive experience of teaching and course design at both UG and PG level. My research interests revolve around my fascination with people. I am interested in a broad range of topics, including multilingualism, second/other language learning, identity, multicultural urban Englishes, youth language, language politics, and research methodologies.
