In a business that has over 400 sites in Australia, maintaining a reliable supply chain can sometimes be challenging, but always achievable. My role also incorporates Sustainable Procurement, something that I am passionate about. This has entailed implementing a framework for Sustainable Procurement within the business, including implementing new policies, initiatives, ongoing strategy and a global Supplier Code of Conduct. Increasing engagement with Indigenous-owned and Social Enterprise businesses across Boral is a primary objective and is growing exponentially. Working with various internal stakeholders to assist in satisfying government tender sustainability requirements has become a strategic necessity in our industry. Preparing our first Modern Slavery statement has led to an increased focus on our supply chain globally, including operations in both Australia and the US. This has led to revised and additional supply chain mapping, supplier pre-qualification and risk assessment, as well as changes to procurement policies and standard operating procedures. I am also an active member of our Reconciliation Action Plan, Modern Slavery, Major Projects Sourcing and Diversity & Inclusion working groups.
