Commencing in 2007, I was employed as a ITU/HDU Staff Nurse, where my passion for providing evidence based care for critically ill patients developed. In 2016, I took the opportunity to become a member of the Critical Care Outreach Team and remain currently practicing as a Critical Care Outreach Advanced Practitoner for the past 8 years, during which I have achieved an MSc in Advanced Clinical Practice with Independent Prescribing. I am passionate about the delivery of education on the deteriorating patient, sepsis and empowering members of staff to make sound clinical judgement and interventions to identify and prevent acute deterioration. Other interests include Advanced Life Support (ALS), CVAD education and surveillance, Tracheostomy/Laryngectomy education and surveillance, patient safety and clinical governance. Future plans in my career development is to enhance my ACP pillars with deeper involvement in clinical leadership undertaking further education and research. I am also very interested in exploring in depth the field of Governance and Clinical Excellence, in regards to acute deterioration, to ensure heathcare is delivered safely and to an exceptional standard to this patient group. Between 2013-2015, I gained experience within the commercial sector within a major pharmaceutical organisation as a Parenteral Nutrition, Clinical Nurse Advisor/Team Lead covering Wales and the South West territory. Attending BAPEN conferences, Gastrointestinal Failure study days, National Nurse meetings, Patient Experience days. This role enabled me to develop the organisation and self confidence as an autonomous practitioner, required to perform my current position. Outside of work, I am a self taught Bass Guitarist of over 20 years experience and a member of a rock covers band with work colleagues. Spending time with my wife and children and not ashamed to admit, a huge Disney World fan! I am also a fervent Arsenal FC supporter, but also love watching Rugby and Ice Hockey.
